Two Japanesse mayors to host Uganda 2020 Olympic team

JAPAN. Uganda’s team for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games are to be hosted by mayors of City of Izumisano and the Town of Tateshina in Japan. According to a press statement issued by Foreign Affairs on Friday July 6, 2018, the decision was reached after Foreign Affairs Minister Mr Sam Kuteesa two days visit Japan. He was received in Tokyo by Mr. Taro Kono, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

“The two ministers reaffirmed the importance of promoting people to people exchanges. They welcomed the decision by the City of Izumisano and the Town of Tateshina to become host-towns for Uganda on the occasion of Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The two Ministers also noted with satisfaction the partnership launched last year between the cities of Izumisano and Gulu,” reads the statement issued my Ms Margaret Kafero, the deputy spokesperson, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In September 2015 President Yoweri Museveni visit to Japan where several memorandums of understanding were signed.

The two ministers reaffirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation, both bilaterally and internationally, based on universal values such as freedom, democracy, the rule of law and good governance.
