KAMPALA, The National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretariat has facilitated the youths in Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District with different sports materials for their sports gala scheduled for this Saturday.
The youths are expected to stage both football and netball competitions as part of the celebrations to mark the 33rd NRM Liberation anniversary.
“The party donated two sets of football uniforms, a netball uniform and several balls. Ambrose Katunda a Communications Assistant at the Secretariat handed over the materials to Mr. Oscar Kimbugwe a youth Coordinator in Kasangati from the party offices in Kampala,” reads a press statement issued January 25, 2019 by Mr Rogerus Mulindwa, the senior communications manager, NRM.
Katunda said the Secretariat had also extended a moderate cash support to the organising committee to meet the basic requirements for their sports gala to take place. He further added that the secretariat would continue supporting the youth and urged them to maintain discipline.
Oscar Kimbugwe said the gala will attract nine parishes of Kabubbu, Bulamu, Watuba, Katadde, Gayaza, Nangabo, Masooli and Kiteezi. Each parish will field both a football and netball team.
Kimbugwe commended the NRM Secretariat for enabling the youth in Kasangati to celebrate the NRM day and said they had also sent representatives to Tororo, a host district for the National celebrations.
Kasangati is the home area of Dr Kiza Besigye, political rival of President Yoweri Museveni. The area is a strong hold of Forum for Democratic Change.
