RUBAGA – Uganda Private Security Association (UPSA) has hailed a private guard who shot dead one of the three suspected thugs accussed of stealing offertory from Rubaga Cathedral. The shooting appened in the night on Wednesday September, 18th, 2019.
“As Uganda Private Security Association we applaud such gallant actions by our men and women in uniform, who prove the narrative to protect life and property of Ugandans,” said Mr Grace Masiko, national chairman, UPSA.
The thugs were reported apparently targeting the offertory from the celebrity mass that had been held at the Cathedral during the day,” said the source.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Mr Patrick Onyango confirmed the machete wielding thug attack at around 3:00am but did not comment on the offertory.
“Three thugs gained access to Catholic Shrine (a tourists’ attraction site) in Lubaga through the water channel but the caretaker saw them. They grabbed him and he made alarm that attracted the security guard who was guarding access building along Rubaga road. On reaching their he saw when the thugs were beating the caretaker, he ordered them to stop. But they instead turned to him and he shot one dead and the others took off,” he said.
He said the body of the thug was conveyed to City Mortuary.
