NAJJERA – Police has arrested a woman for allegedly brutalizing six years old in Najjera, Wakiso district now facing torture charges. According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the boy was rescued after a tipoff by a concerned.
“Police last evening rescued a kid that was being tortured by one of his relatives. Police got information at around 2100 hours yesterday (September, 17th, 2019.) that there was a woman one Kukunda Penina aged 29 years a resident of Buwate who was torturing a young boy of 6 years,” he said in a press statement issued September 19th, 2019.
Onyango further explained, “The neighbours got concerned and tried to approach her but she locked herself in her room. When Police reached the scene the neighbours had become violent, Police Officers had to carry out community policing to cool down the tempers of the residents.”
He said the suspect was talked too and she willingly accepted to open the door and was arrested.
Currently she is being detained at Najjera Police Station and we have preferred charges of torture pending advice from Resident State Attorney, Onyango noted.
The tortured kid looked malnourished with wounds allover her body. It is not clear why the suspected resorted to beat the boy.
