MUKONO – State Minister of Information and Communications Technology Aidah Nantaba survived an assassination from two gunmen on her way from Kayunga to Kampala Saturday afternoon March 24, 2019.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police, spokesperson, Mr Patrick Onyango two suspicious men ridding on a motor cycle registration UDL 822A trailed her from Ssezibwa bridge on Kayunga – Mukono road and she alert Police.
“Police immediately put on an action plan on how to secure the Minister and also to apprehend the thugs. The thugs on realizing that a plan was in to trap them, changed the route,” he said.
Onyango further explained, “Police started pursing them on reaching Nagonge Trading Centre they abandon the motor cycle and the mob decided to chase them one was killed and another one escaped with the gun. Police is still on ground trying to comb the area. Investigations has already begun.”
He identified the thug who was killed as Sebuliba Ronald.
Nantaba has been at the centre of fighting land grabbers in Kayunga allegedly some being big shots in government. She was at one time persisted in singling out the former Inspector General of Police General Kale Kayihura as being part of a group of people allegedly bent on frustrating her efforts. Gen. Kayihura is now facing several charges at the General Court Martial.
