Four children resuced, kidnappers’ gang arrested

KAMPALA, Uganda Police Force has arrested six suspects in connection with kidnaps and theft of motor vehicle number plates in and around Fort Portal Municipality.

According to Mr Patrick Onyango, Deputy Spokes Person, the suspects are currently detained at Kabarole Police Station pending court.

“The six suspects have been identified as Amos Mugume alias Kaboy, Muhereza Kesta, Isingoma Deogratius, Mugabo Robert, Amara Joram, Ategeka Sedrasi and Marunga Cristine,” he said.

They were apprehended after along and systematic operation, said Mr Onyango said in press statement issued Friday December 20, 2018.

He further explained. “The group is responsible for a number of disappearances of young children in Kabarole aimed at getting ransom money from their parents. All children-four in number were recovered and suspects are soon to appear in court.”

Mr Onyango described it as a Christmas gift to the people of Kabarole and even beyond.

A number of suspected criminal gangs have of recent resorted to kidnap of children and women but in most cases ended up being arrested by vigilant security.
