KAMPALA, Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has told District Veterinary Officers (DVO) to stop overriding their mandates by taking over roles of their superiors. According to Mr Pius Wakabi Kasajja, the permanent secretary, MAAIF, some of the district officials have started issuing documents he is authorized to sign.

“Some of you are issuing fake animal movement permits, this is not your role. You have taken over my duties and you stand warned,” he said.

Speaking at a workshop DVOs and ministry staff in Kampala Wednesday July 11, 2018, Mr Wakabi challenged his staff to account for the resources availed to them.

You have always complained of luck of resources, first account for the little you get Mr Wakabi noted.

The three days workshop is attended several DVOs country wide funded by the Europe Union.
