Artists’ mega HIV/Aids concerts

KAMPALA, Uganda, Civil society have partnered with local firms to carry out a country wide health camps in August and September 2018. According to a press statement from Mr Ibrahim Batambuze, the communications manager, Reach A Hand Uganda, this year’ annual camps are to focus mainly on HIV/Aids with concerts to be performed by several artists.

“Our signature HIV/Aids concerts are on and this time, bigger and better. The first concert will be held in Lira on Saturday August 25th, Masaka Wednesday August 29th and Kabale on Saturday September 1st, 2018,” he said.

In an email sent to The Uganda Vanguard on Saturday August 11, 2018, Mr Batambuze called on the public to attend the events branded, ‘The 2018 iKnow HIV/AIDS awareness concerts’ to check on their health status.

“In partnership with the Global Livingston Institute, NBS TV, Kiss Condoms, YoSpace, AIDS Information Centre, Uganda Red Cross Society and Events Warehouse, we will be promoting access to integrated HIV/AIDS information and services including access to family planning information and services through music concerts, mass sensitization drives on HIV prevention, HIV testing and counseling, condom distribution and demonstration,” he added.
