NAIROBI – Pakistan nationals living in Uganda have welcomed the new online visa application system by Pakistan government as a boost to bilateral relationship.

“This is a great opportunity for Ugandans to do more business with their Pakistan counterparts. There is a lot of business potential in fabrics, agriculture, sports and medical among others,” said Mr Al- Malik Azar, the former chairman, Pakistan Society of Uganda.

The new system came into effect last month after Mr Malik had on March 30th, 2019 during Pakistan national day celebration requested the Pakistan Embassy, Nairobi to consider online visa application to boost trade between the two countries.

“I would cost one US$100 (Shs370,000) for carrier charges for a passport to Nairobi from Uganda and wait for days for the process. But now one can get a visa within a day if all documents required are presented,” he said.

“In order to facilitate visitors, the Government of Pakistan has launched online visa application system with effect from 29th April. Kenyan, Ugandan, Eritrean and Burundian nationals, holders of diplomatic, official, ordinary passport can avail the online visa facility. Online visa can apply on,” reads the statement issued by the First Secretary, Mr Bilal A. Mohsin Thursday, May 16, 2019.

He further, explained, “For any query, the High Commissioner can be approached on or +254-02-4443911/12.”
